This is The Polemologist, a Substack on war, warfare, and all of its contexts. Polemology is the interdisciplinary study of war, known more commonly as war studies.

This Substack is meant to be a tool for reflection and developing thoughts on war. It will likely be imperfect. It is not meant to be limited by scale, time, or space. It is not meant to be limited by discipline or length of post. It will not be solely focused on tactics, nor strategy, nor operational art. It will instead enable the pursuit of war studies from all directions, within all contexts, and to whatever end.

Chace A Nelson is an Artillery Officer in the US Marine Corps, an Associate of King’s College London, and a former Barrows Fellow at the Brute Krulak Center for Innovation & Future Warfare. He holds a Master of Arts with distinction in War in the Modern World from King’s College London and Bachelor of Arts in History with a concentration in Military History from the Virginia Military Institute.
